Porsche has confirmed it will unveil the facelifted Taycan in a few days, but I think it’ll take months before the new car arrives at U.S. dealerships. The current model is one of the critically acclaimed driver’s cars in the EV space. Earlier this month, I had a chance to explore the 2024 Porsche Taycan 4S in the optional Neptune Blue color, and here’s how it went.
Design
The 4S is the most basic variant of the 2024 Porsche Taycan with all-wheel drive, but it doesn’t disappoint in styling or capabilities. On this particular Neptune Blue sample, the car’s high-tech design and fluidic shape are complemented by the SportDesign Package that brings special front air inlets, black side skirts with body color inlays, and a special black rear diffuser with sides finished in the body color.

Additional optional features like Matrix LED headlights in Glacier Blue incl. Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS+), 21-inch Mission E wheels with a dash of the body color, white-colored Porsche Surface Coated Brakes, gloss black window trim, and puddle lights further enhance the exterior.
Interior
When I sat in the Taycan 4S, I got a proper sports car feeling from the sleek dashboard, regular three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, and sports seats. The curved 16.8-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and 8.4-inch touchscreen climate control system made it clear I was sitting in a tech-laden futuristic car. The optional body-colored accents reminded me of the special exterior paint.
Specifications
The 2024 Porsche Taycan 4S is available in two configurations, and in both, a 0-60 mph sprint takes just 3.8 seconds and the top speed is 155 MPH. The base configuration has a dual-motor powertrain with 429 hp (522 hp w/ boost) and 472 lb.-ft. of torque. A 71 kWh battery pack delivers an EPA-est. range of 206 miles.
The top-end configuration also has a dual-motor powertrain but with 482 hp (563 hp w/ boost) and 479 lb.-ft. of torque. The additional power and torque compensate for the increased weight of the 83.7 kWh battery pack, which gives it a higher EPA-est. range of 235 miles. This Neptune Blue unit has been specified with the optional battery pack and powertrain combo.
Price
The 2024 Porsche Taycan 4S starts at USD 111,700 (excl. USD 1,650 DPH fee) in the U.S. market.
