The new Porsche Taycan has been introduced globally, and it’s scheduled to begin reaching U.S. dealerships in Summer 2024. Until then, the pre-facelift model will remain on sale. Recently, I saw the base 2024 Porsche Taycan in the cool Frozen Blue Metallic color. Here are my thoughts about this particular color and variant.
Looks & Features
I think the Frozen Blue Metallic, which costs USD 800 extra, gives the electric sportscar a distinctive appearance. While its not the exact same hue, it reminded me of the Gulf livery from motorsport history.

The 2024 Porsche Taycan features a low and wide front, with its headlamps and air curtains designed uniquely. It has a dynamic and sporty side profile with a narrow greenhouse, fast-sloping roofline, and muscular haunches, and a sleek rear-end with a full-width tail light that integrates the brand logo in a glass-look design. I don’t like the standard-fit 19-inch Taycan S Aero five-spoke wheels much, though.
The interior of the 2024 Porsche Taycan looks sporty and high-tech. The blocky and edgy dashboard is connected to an elevated center console, which gives me the feeling of being seated low, as I’d expect from a sports car. I think the interior would’ve looked better in a brighter color instead of Slate Grey seen here.

This Frozen Blue Metallic unit doesn’t have the available 10.9-inch passenger display. It does feature the 16.8-inch curved digital instrument cluster, the 10.9-inch infotainment display, and the 8.4-inch climate control display, though.
8-way power seats (front) are standard, and this car has the optional 40:20:40 split-folding back seat worth USD 480, which makes it a five-seater. An interesting optional feature on this unit is the 710-watt, 14-speaker Bose surround sound system, costing an additional USD 1,200.

Specifications
The Frozen Blue Metallic 2024 Porsche Taycan I saw had only one motor, located on the rear axle and powered by a 71.0 kWh battery pack. Under normal conditions, the motor produces 321 hp and 254 lb.-ft. of torque. With overboost mode enabled and launch control engaged, the power temporarily increases to 402 hp. A 0-60 mph sprint takes just 5.1 seconds, and the top speed is 143 mph.
Fully charging the 71.0 kWh battery pack with a 9.6 kW AC charger takes 9.5 hours. Using a DC charger with a 225 kW or higher output, charging from 5 to 80% SoC takes 22.5 minutes. On a full charge, this car can travel up to only 208 miles, as per EPA.
