Digital Green 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 has an understated appeal

The 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 is available in seven colors, and there’s one that gives it an incredibly premium look, much like that of a luxury product. It’s the ‘Digital Green,’ and when I viewed an example in this color recently, I noticed that it’s so dark that it could easily be mistaken for black in certain low-light conditions. I think this shade reflects the 2024 Ioniq 6’s premium positioning in the Hyundai line-up in a low-key manner.

The 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 features an offbeat shape that significantly contributes to its ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.21 Cd. That, along with the pixelated lights, the oversized (20-inch) aero wheels, and the elliptical wing-inspired spoiler that integrates a transparent high-mounted stop lamp, gives the car a striking look, one that’s guaranteed to catch the attention of people wherever it goes.

The interior of the 2024 Ioniq 6 looks futuristic and has far less quirkiness than its exterior. I like the sleek dashboard with the dual panoramic displays attached to it and the wraparound look of its outer ends.

After spending some time in the 2024 Ioniq 6, the abundance of passenger and storage space, the dual-color (and speed-sensing) ambient lighting, and the 12.3-inch floating displays sends out a vibe of a luxury car. However, I was disappointed to learn that, unlike in Europe, Hyundai doesn’t offer this model with fully reclining relaxation seats in the U.S.

The 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 is available in Standard Range RWD, Long Range RWD, and Long Range AWD (featured in this story) configurations in the U.S. market. The base configuration has a 53.0 kWh battery pack and one motor that produces 149 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque.

The mid-level configuration upgrades to a 77.4 kWh battery pack and adds a second motor that bumps the power to 225 hp and gives the car all-wheel drive capability. The range-topping configuration uses the same 77.4 kWh battery pack, but it sports punchier motors that develop 320 hp and 446 lb.-ft. of torque.

According to EPA, the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 can deliver a range of 240 miles in the Standard Range RWD configuration, up to 361 miles in the Long Range RWD configuration, and up to 316 miles in the Long Range AWD configuration.

The prices of the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 fall in the USD 42,450-53,650 range (excl. USD 1,150 freight charge).
