After reviewing both the pre-facelift Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid and the facelifted electrified version sold in Asia, it was clear to us that this subcompact SUV remains a practical choice for buyers shopping for a no-nonsense vehicle anywhere in the world.
If you think of it, the Corolla Cross is the perfect overlap of a Venn diagram: arguably the most popular vehicle nameplate with the trending body style of a crossover. And earlier this month, Toyota announced that it had refreshed the Corolla Cross Hybrid for the 2026 model year in the U.S. Here are the eight key changes that make it stand apart from the 2025 model year:
1. Color-matched grille

The first big change is at the front. Toyota gives the hybrid version a modern, color-matched grille. This replaces last year’s black design, and gives it the same look as the Camry.
2. Bigger 10.5-inch touchscreen
The cabin now includes a newly available 10.5-inch touchscreen, but this is only available as standard in the top-end XSE variant. It replaces the previous 8-inch display, offering clearer graphics and easier control.
3. Revised Center Console

The complete center console has been redesigned. It offers a more practical storage space, and a more premium squared-off look with lesser gloss black finish, which should also make it easier to maintain. This is made possible through the relocation of the Hold and Park switches to the left of the gear shifter. We also observe that the USB port, and seat and steering wheel HVAC switches have been lowered to the console ahead of the gear shifter, making it easier to access the wireless phone charger.
4. Cavalry Blue Body Color
Familiar from the RAV4 lineup, Toyota introduces Cavalry Blue paint to the 2026 Corolla Cross Hybrid. This shade is available on select trims including the Hybrid SE and XSE, and buyers can also choose Cavalry Blue with a Jet Black roof for a two-tone combination, similar to the RAV4 Hybrid.

5. Glossy Black Alloy Wheels
The Hybrid XSE gets new 18-inch alloy wheels finished in glossy black. This sportier wheel option contrasts sharply against the vehicle’s body, giving the subcompact SUV a bolder look.
6. Cold Weather Package
Another noteworthy update for the 2026 model year involves comfort. A Cold-Weather package, which includes a heated steering wheel and heated front seats, now comes standard on the Hybrid XSE trim. These features were previously an optional extra.
7. ‘Portobello’ Interior
Inside, Toyota adds the new Portobello interior color for higher-grade trims. This is a light brown upholstery on the seats, armrest, and doors.
8. No Nightshade Edition
While the 2026 Camry has welcomed a Nightshade edition to the lineup, the Corolla Cross Hybrid, which offered it in the previous two model years, does not have it for 2026. The lineup has gone back to S, SE, and XSE variants.

There are no changes under the bonnet. The 2026 Corolla Cross Hybrid continues with Toyota’s 5th-generation Hybrid Electric Vehicle system. It includes a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with three electric motors. Together, they deliver 196 hp and a brisk 8-second 0-60 mph acceleration. Fuel efficiency remains strong, rated at an impressive 42 mpg (combined).
Equipment such as Electronic AWD and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 also continue as standard. The 2026 Corolla Cross Hybrid is due at U.S. dealerships later this year, with pricing details available closer to launch. It will continue to be made in Huntsville, Alabama, which leads us to believe that it will continue starting at around USD 29,000 (MSRP).
