2026 Toyota Camry gets these 2 changes; to reach U.S. dealers this Fall

The Hybrid-only 2025 Camry was revealed way back in fall 2023, but it wasn’t until late spring 2025 that it arrived at dealers. Last week, Toyota announced the 2026 Camry with two key changes. The midsize hybrid sedan, now in its ninth generation, impressed us during our review with its fuel efficiency and VFM, and the basic formula remains the same for MY2026:

1. Nightshade Edition

As we expected in February, a new Nightshade Edition joins the 2026 Camry lineup, bringing dark styling cues for a more aggressive appearance. It features Midnight Black Metallic elements across the front grille, fins, mirror enclosures, roof antenna, and rear spoiler. Gloss black badging and 19-inch wheels complete the look.

The Nightshade edition can be configured in Ice Cap, Supersonic Red, and Midnight Black Metallic colors. It shares mechanical specifications with the SE grade and is available with front- or all-wheel drive.

Inside, the Nightshade Edition carries over the features from the SE but adds a unique black interior with SofTex-trimmed seats and white accents. It also includes aluminum sport pedals, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, and a leather shift knob, offering a stealthier cabin vibe without affecting functionality.

2. Dark Cosmos Color

A new body color called the Dark Cosmos has been introduced for MY2026. It is available in the SE, XLE, and XSE grades. The moody blue finish adds to the car’s wide color palette, but Heavy Metal with the Midnight Black Metallic roof remains our personal favorite! While it isn’t available currently, Toyota must consider extending Dark Cosmos to the Nightshade Edition for the next model year.

Specifications & Pricing

Mechanically, the Camry is unchanged from the 2025 model. It continues standard with the fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System, delivering 225 hp in FWD or 232 hp in AWD. Fuel economy is unchanged at a manufacturer-estimated 51 mpg (LE FWD). The car also retains the sport-tuned suspension for SE, Nightshade and XSE, while LE and XLE focus on comfort. All models offer Normal, Eco, and Sport drive modes. The safety suite, Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, is standard across the range.

No changes have been made to powertrain, infotainment, or standard safety features from the previous model year.

The 2026 Toyota Camry will arrive at U.S. dealers Fall 2025. The company says that pricing will be announced closer to launch. Since the Camry Hybrid is made in Kentucky, it should be less affected by the Trump administration’s auto tariffs. While an official announcement is awaited, prices (base MSRP) currently (MY2025) range between USD 28,700 to USD 34,900.
