I explored the 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro i-Force Max in ‘Terra’ color

Toyota distinguishes its TRD Pro off-road-oriented models from the other offerings with a special signature color with each new model year. For MY2024, it introduced the earthy shade ‘Terra.’ Recently, I viewed the 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro i-Force Max in this new brown color. Here’s what I think about the hybrid pickup truck:

Exterior

The 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro i-Force Max has an athletic exterior that gives it a powerful and dominating character. Compared to the standard truck, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro i-Force Max sits 2 inches higher in the front, and 1.5 inches higher in the back.

Features like a heritage-inspired grille featuring block-lettered brand inscription and the 20-inch LED light bar right below it, as well as the Rigid white LED fog lamps, a high-clearance front bumper, a hood scoop, an aluminum TRD front skid plate, and a high-clearance ARB rear metal bumper with red recovery hooks cement its off-road credentials.

As for the ‘Terra,’ it was formulated by Toyota’s Calty design studio, which releases a new paint color for the TRD Pro each year. I find it to be a trendy, and to an extent, a bold color choice, but it’s not as bright or flashy as Solar Octane. Back in the 1980s, “Terra Cotta” was introduced as an option in models like the Supra, Celica, and even the Toyota trucks. Having viewed both the colors, it certainly feels like Terra is inspired by this classic paint. The branding also reminds of the ‘Terra Rossa’ interior option that I saw in Japan on the old Toyota Crown, which is a deep wine red.

Probing closer, I noticed that the special features of the 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro i-Force Max include TRD Pro red anodized, forged-aluminum upper control arm, Fox QS3 three-way-adjustable internal bypass shocks, and TRD red coil springs as well. The 33-inch Goodyear Territory R/T tires wrapping the 18-inch Black flow-formed TRD wheels almost completely mask these components. Lastly, there’s also a TRD cat-back dual-tipped exhaust to complement the sporty exterior.

Interior

Inside, the chunky steering of the 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro i-Force Max proudly wears the TRD logo at the bottom and has a red 12 o’clock marker. A red TRD start-stop button, TRD Pro badges in the front door panels, a TRD gearshift lever with red accent, and TRD Pro floor mats are also among the interior highlights.

In my opinion, the coolest interior feature of the 2024 Tacoma TRD Pro i-Force Max is the IsoDynamic Performance Seats that even out jerks using an air-over-oil shock absorber system. The dampening effect of the shock absorbers can be adjusted via levers on the seatbacks.

The seat covers feature a technical camouflage pattern, TRD black plaques, and red double stitching. Red double stitching is seen on the center console, door panels, and dashboard as well. Lastly, the “TOYOTA” logo on the dashboard has red outlines.
