Tesla Model Y Refresh: VINs assigned, demos available, U.S. deliveries days away

Revealing the Tesla Model Y refresh in January, Tesla confirmed that deliveries in the U.S. would begin in March. And going by the latest developments, the refreshed crossover is on schedule, and is about to hit U.S. roads. ‘Project Juniper’ is its unofficial moniker, with “new Model Y” and “Model Y refresh” used to refer to it officially.

Demo units reached select Tesla locations last month, with prospective buyers getting email invites to stores to experience the new interior and exterior design. TopElectricSUV readers have pointed out that transporters carrying batches of the Model Y refresh have been seen in California, again hinting that the deliveries are imminent.

In the last week, Tesla has also assigned Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) to local customers that have placed orders in January. U.S. would become the third location to receive the vehicle, as deliveries have been ongoing for several weeks in Europe and China, where the cars are locally manufactured.

Unveiled in January 2025, the update sharpens the electric crossover’s beak with slimmer headlights, a new front end, and a Cybertruck-like styling. Inside, there’s ambient lighting, ventilated seats, aluminum trim, and updated screens from the new Model 3 to lift the appeal. The refreshed Model Y Performance (illustrated) will follow later this year. It is expected to sport significant changes to offer more thrill.

Only a single variant is available to order: the Launch Series, the Long Range AWD variant, costs $59,990, offers 327 miles of range, and does 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds, with a 125 mph top speed. Other trims, including the 7-seater, Performance, and RWD (Range) model, will be launched later this year.

Production at Giga Texas has switched to the new model. Drone footage shows cleared lots, signaling that shipments of the Tesla Model Y refresh are near. With EV tax credits still available and competition growing, an updated Model Y couldn’t have arrived at a better time!
