Paris Motor Show 2024 Live: The Tesla Cybertruck is an absolute beast

The Tesla Cybertruck, one of the most talked-about electric vehicles this year, is a big draw at the 2024 Paris Motor Show. It is one of the biggest personal vehicles that I’ve seen so far here at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles exhibition grounds.

The Cybertruck’s design is unlike any other pickup truck. Its sharp, wedge-shaped body and stainless-steel exterior make it stand out. While I love Tesla for trying something different, the small lights and angular shape are still growing on me. Its stainless steel exterior is strong and scratch-resistant, and the six-foot truck bed is tough enough to handle heavy loads.

Inside, the Cybertruck follows the same minimalistic design seen with the Model Y and Model 3. It comes with a huge 18.5-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system in the front, and a large 9.4-inch touchscreen for rear passengers. Both screens display clear, sharp graphics. From all the time that I’ve spent inside the Cybertruck, I can say that the all-glass roof makes the cabin feel open and spacious. The seats are angular, matching the exterior, and the space is good, especially for a 6-footer like me.

Tesla currently sells the Cybertruck in the U.S. in two versions: All-Wheel Drive and Cyberbeast. The latter, priced at $119,990, delivers 845 horsepower and can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds. It does 320 miles of range (Tesla estimate), and has a towing capacity of 11,000 lbs. Prices of the Cybertruck range begin at $99,990 for the All-Wheel Drive version, which comes with comparatively lower output and a longer range.

While the Cybertruck is a radical idea and has drawn wide interest from the American public, I do feel that features like the absence of paint color options and traditional door handles might not sit well with buyers used to standard pickup trucks.

Overall, the Cybertruck has the potential to shake up the electric pickup market with its bold design and impressive performance. I hope that some aspects, like its minimalist controls and lack of color options, receive Tesla’s attention in future model years.
