Release & Availability
The Tesla Cybertruck will be short in supply initially, as per another recent tweet by Musk. Large-scale Tesla Cybertruck deliveries are unlikely to begin in 2021.
Speaking to analysts during the Q3 2020 results earnings call last month, Elon Musk hinted not many Cybertruck units will be available for sale when mass production begins in late 2021. Below is what he said:
I would say there’s probably a lot of deliveries in 2022, and some deliveries towards the end of next year, if things go well.

Cybertruck customers can reserve their unit with a deposit of $100 right now, and they will be able to complete their configuration closer to the series production commencement next year. There are three variants of the Tesla Cybertruck on offer: Single Motor AWD, Dual Motor AWD and Tri Motor AWD. Below are the official production schedules:
Variant | Tesla Cybertruck Production Schedule |
Single Motor AWD | Late 2022 |
Dual Motor AWD | Late 2021 |
Tri Motor AWD | Late 2021 |
Musk also talked about the design changes to the Cybertruck the company is making, saying that the revisions will make it look better than what was unveiled last year.
I think it’s going to be better than what we showed.
Elon Musk, on the design changes of the Tesla Cybertruck.
Scratch- and dent-free materials and many such other never-seen-before features are to keep the design & engineering teams on their toes for a year as they try to put such novelties Musk promised during the unveil into serial production. In May, Musk had tweeted that the production version will be more or less the same size and maybe the company will do a smaller Tesla pickup truck for markets outside North America.
Reviewed design with Franz last night. Even 3% smaller is too small. Will be pretty much this size. We’ll probably do a smaller, tight world truck at some point.
