Tesla begins U.S. deliveries of New Model Y at Fremont & Giga Texas

On March 8, 2025, Tesla began deliveries of its new Model Y in America at Fremont Factory and Giga Texas. The company held the Handoff event at the two sites, marking the first big customer event since the Cybertruck’s launch back in 2023. Delivery events showed enthusiastic buyers, Tesla staff, and prominent displays of the company’s branding at Giga Texas. The first deliveries of the new Model Y commenced at Tesla stores in the U.S. earlier this month.

Fresh Looks & Features

On the looks front, the 2025 Tesla Model Y (‘Model Y Juniper’ as many of you like to call it) comes with a refreshed front and rear with light bands to emphasize the width. The vehicle also looks neater at the rear, helped by the ‘Tesla’ badging pasted across the tailgate. Inside, the refreshed Model Y includes a quieter cabin, bigger sound system, new front seats with ventilation, new steering wheel, and power-folding rear seats.

Amidst Controversy

Giga Texas, active since late 2021, and Fremont Factory, running since 2020, produce the new model simultaneously. The launch comes as Tesla faces strong global competition and controversy around Elon Musk’s political activities and DOGE. Amidst these challenges, the new Model Y aims to bring attention back to the product with other improvements like a revised suspension, ambient lighting, and an 8-inch rear touchscreen.

Specs & Future Variants

Only the Launch Series Long Range AWD is currently available. It has an estimated range of 320 miles, slightly better than the previous model’s 311-mile range, with a 0-60 mph time of 4.1 seconds. The new Model Y Juniper Launch Series is priced at $59,990 before taxes and fees. Other refreshed variants, including the new Model Y Performance, 7-seater, and Long Range RWD will follow later this year.

Busy 2025

Tesla will probably have its busiest year yet in 2025, as it has also programmed the introduction of its entry-level product (‘Model Q’) by June, and refreshes of the Model S and Model X in the latter half of the year.
