2026 Subaru Trailseeker looks equally outdoorsy in the Magnetite Gray Metallic

The 2026 Subaru Trailseeker slots above the Solterra in the company’s American and Canadian lineup with higher output, more space, and AWD capability. A product of the Toyota-Subaru EV collaboration, the Trailseeker is closely related to the Toyota bZ Woodland.

We recently got to check out the Subaru Trailseeker in the Magnetite Gray Metallic shade, and here are our observations.

Design

At the front, the Trailseeker adopts Subaru’s new EV light signature with a six-star illuminated logo, redesigned headlamps, and a new bumper. The SUV is more than 6 inches longer and nearly 1 inch taller than the Solterra, increasing passenger volume and creating 32.2 cubic feet of rear cargo, an 8.4 cubic feet improvement.

Standard raised roof rails support a static load of 700 pounds for outdoor equipment. Newly developed 18- and 20-inch wheels complete the exterior. At the rear, a three-dimensional logo and a revised gate garnish are designed to improve nighttime visibility.

Interior

The interior provides a flat floor and a bright cabin due to the enlarged glass area and tall roof height. The 14-inch touchscreen, the largest ever in a Subaru, features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The center console offers device storage and dual 15W wireless charging pads. Upholstery options include standard gray or black StarTex and available leather on the Touring trim. Touring models also add ventilated seats, radiant leg warmers, a panoramic glass roof with a motorized shade, and a 120V AC outlet in the cargo area, which is also available on the Limited trim.

All trims feature EyeSight driver-assistance technology, including Pre-Collision Braking, Front Cross-Traffic Assist, Active Lane Change Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Departure Alert, Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control, and Emergency Steering.

Specifications

The Trailseeker is powered by two electric motors sending power to the front and rear axles in a Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive setup. Combined output is rated at 375 horsepower, enabling the Trailseeker to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds and providing a towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds.

Energy is stored in a 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery, with Subaru estimating approximately 280 miles of range on a single charge. A standard NACS charge port enables charging at rates of up to 150 kW. Subaru estimates a 10-80 percent charge in approximately 28 minutes on a compatible DC fast charger.
