Accessorized Subaru Trailseeker looks outdoorsy in Daybreak Blue Pearl

With the Outback evolving into a proper SUV in its seventh generation, Subaru has announced the Trailseeker in the U.S. which expands its adventure-ready model line. The station wagon-style SUV is fully electric, and fittingly called the E-Outback in Europe.

At the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, we took a close look at an accessorized 2026 Subaru Trailseeker painted in Daybreak Blue Pearl.

Exterior

The Trailseeker introduces Subaru’s next-generation EV design language while maintaining the brand’s traditional outdoorsy attitude. Measuring over 6 inches longer and nearly an inch taller than the Solterra, the new electric model is sleeker and more rugged.

At the front, the closed grille houses a six-star illuminated Subaru emblem, flanked by slim LED headlamps with a new lighting signature. The squared-off bumper and large lower intake lend it visual toughness.

Along the sides, we noticed flush surfaces and sharply styled 20-inch wheels. The profile also features black cladding around the wheel arches, silver skid plates, and roof rails that support optional accessories such as the Thule roof box seen on the display model.

At the rear, a full-width LED light bar stretches across the tailgate with an integrated three-dimensional SUBARU wordmark. The upright design, coupled with the extended overhang, signifies additional cargo volume.

Interior

The cabin layout mirrors the 2026 Solterra. Subaru has installed a new 14-inch touchscreen, which is its largest to date, featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Metallic accents add appeal to the horizontal dashboard, while the broad center console offers space for everyday items and dual 15W wireless chargers. Two additional USB-C ports serve rear passengers. The front seats feel well-bolstered, the rear bench benefits from a recline adjustment, and the tall glass area provides good outward visibility.

In the display car, the blue and black color scheme complemented the exterior, alongside soft-touch surfaces and contrast stitching. The large cargo area includes a flat load floor and a 120V outlet.

Specifications

Th Trailseeker is approximately 190.2 inches long, 73.2 inches wide, and 63.8 inches tall. The high-riding electric wagon shares the 112.2-inch wheelbase with the Solterra and offers the same, 8.3 inches of ground clearance.

Subaru will offer the model exclusively in a dual-motor AWD configuration producing 375 hp. The company claims a 0-60 mph sprint time of 4.4 seconds, and a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. The car includes X-MODE with Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud settings, along with Grip Control and Downhill Assist Control.

A 74.7 kWh battery pack powers the motors, and Subaru expects it to deliver an EPA-estimated range of over 260 miles. While the range may be adequate for daily use, it could limit appeal among customers planning long trips, especially in remote areas, and in cold weather.

The car’s maximum charging input is 150 kW DC, which is modest by current standards, though Subaru’s adoption of the NACS port ensures access to over 25,000 Tesla Superchargers across North America.

Price & Release Date

Subaru plans to launch the 2026 Trailseeker in the U.S. in Premium, Limited, and Touring trims in early 2026. We expect the company to price it at under USD 45,000 in the base trim.
