Update: Revised performance numbers, model branding, and release date.
Our analysis shows that the 2027 Ram 1500 REV is one of the 16 new EREVs that are expected in the U.S. by 2029. Unlike a typical electric truck, the 1500 REV combines electric power with a gas engine that acts as a generator, offering excellent range and power.
Since the announcement in November 2023, Ram has revised the vehicle’s specifications, with its latest figures showing slightly less power and slower acceleration. Here are seven key things we learned about the upcoming range-extended full-size truck.
1. 690-mile range

The 1500 REV uses a 92 kWh battery and a 3.6-liter V6 engine that powers a generator to recharge the battery when required. Together, they give the truck a manufacturer-estimated driving range of up to 690 miles.
2. DC Fast Charging
The battery can also be charged externally, like a normal electric vehicle, using up to 145 kW DC fast charging. Ram says this can add up to 50 miles of all-electric range in just 10 minutes. It works with Level 1, Level 2, and DC fast charging stations.

Plus, it has a 130 kW onboard generator that can also send power to the battery, and comes with one-pedal driving for regenerative braking.
3. V2L & V2H
Ram has announced an onboard power panel that supplies up to 7.2 kW for tools and other equipment. It also plans bidirectional charging to supply power to a home or another compatible EV. Home backup requires compatible equipment and installation.
4. 647 hp motor output

Besides the V6 engine at the front, which powers a 130 kW generator, the truck comes with front and rear electric motors.
Ram now lists 647 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque from two electric motors. Its estimated 0 to 60 mph time is 4.5 seconds. These replace the previously announced 663 hp, 615 lb-ft, and 4.4-second figures.
5. 14,000 lbs towing
The Ram 1500 REV is not a lifestyle truck and can haul serious gear and tow a trailer. Ram says that it can tow up to 14,000 pounds and carry a payload of 2,625 pounds.
6. Adjustable air suspension
The truck is built on a high-strength steel STLA Frame chassis. Chassis specifications include four-corner active air suspension with five settings: entry/exit, aero, normal, off-road 1, and off-road 2. An electronic-locking rear differential is also available.
7. Expected in April 2027

On September 4, 2026, Car and Driver reported that a Ram spokesperson confirmed a 2027 arrival. Automotive News has also reported on the delay, with a mid-April 2027 launch now on the cards, citing a supplier memo.
The truck will be made in Sterling Heights, Michigan. We expect the 1500 REV to start at around USD 70,000, with official details awaited early next year.
