The Taycan may be the first and most technically advanced pure-electric Porsche, but the second-generation Macan is the brand’s most significant EV from a volumes perspective. The performance-oriented electric mid-size SUV went on sale globally in September 2024.
At the 2025 Bangkok International Motor Show, I got the opportunity to experience it first-hand. Here are some interesting observations I made from my time with the Porsche Macan Electric:
Design

The Porsche Macan Electric I saw was painted in the standard White color and specified with the standard 20-inch alloy wheels. While I would have liked to see it in special paints like Dark Blue Metallic or Moonlight Blue Metallic more, the monochrome shade let me focus properly on the design.
The subtly sporty bumpers, the flat upper front light unit with four-point DRLs, the muscular wheel arches, and the sleek glasshouse give the Macan Electric a dynamic look. I also noticed a distinctive texture on the door sills, which was a rather fancy touch on such a performance-oriented SUV.

Another noteworthy detail on the Macan Electric was the absence of a traditional roof antenna, underscoring its streamlined design. My only gripe was the absence of a conventionally positioned roof spoiler, which I felt gave the rear-end a slightly odd look. That said, Porsche does offer a rear spoiler right above the full-width tail light.
Interior
I am 5’7” tall, and stepping in and out of the Macan Electric was effortless for me. While sitting in the ’s seat, despite the steeply raked back glass, I found no issues with the all-around visibility. The steering wheel with an electrically adjustable column was grippy but not excessively thick like in most performance-oriented models, something I felt short drivers with small hands would particularly appreciate.

I had plenty of headroom in the front of the cabin, and the lumbar support was great. The under-thigh support felt excellent, thanks to an electrically extendable thigh support. The quality of materials was second to none, which is typical of a Porsche.
I liked the modern yet conventional design and layout of the Porsche Macan Electric’s interior. The regular steering wheel controls and the physical switches and knob on the center console give ease and intuitiveness in operating essential functions like selecting the drive mode, changing the speaker volume, and adjusting the AC temperature.

The infotainment system’s screen was bright and displayed crisp graphics, and thanks to Android Automotive OS, I felt this infotainment system was one of the simplest infotainment systems ever in a Porsche. Its powerful processing made operations felt quite snappy.
In the rear, sitting right behind the driver’s seat that was adjusted to my comfortable position, I had more than sufficient legroom and a good amount of knee room. The under-thigh support was good, too. The backrest was not adjustable, but its default angle was comfortable for me.
I had about four inches of headroom, meaning six-foot or taller people might not find themselves very comfortable here. Rear seat passengers get a center armrest with two cupholders and two AC vents with individual temperature zones.
Specifications

Based on the PPE platform co-developed with Audi, the Porsche Macan Electric is a bespoke electric vehicle. Porsche offers it in standard, 4, 4S, and Turbo variants, each with different performance and efficiency parameters. This particular unit is in the standard variant, the only one with a rear-wheel drive drivetrain layout in the line-up.
The standard variant uses a rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) that produces 335 hp—355 hp with an overboost function with Launch Control, and 415 lb.-ft. of torque with Launch Control. It takes 5.4 seconds with a 0-60 mph sprint using Launch Control and achieves a top speed of 137 mph with summer tires.

A 95 kWh (net) battery pack supplies energy to the PMSM, and it supports charging at up to 270 kW. A 10-80% charging session takes as little as 21 minutes. On a full charge, EPA estimates it delivers a range of 315 miles.
Price
The Porsche Macan EV retails at USD 75,300 (excl. USD 1,995 Destination, Processing, and Handling fee) in the standard variant.
