If you’ve read our first look review of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, you’d know that it is a great value-for-money family SUV packed with plenty of pleasant surprises.
The 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid is now available in U.S. with minor equipment changes. However, while the European markets benefit from a larger battery and extended electric range, the U.S.-spec model retains the existing 20 kWh battery, offering an EPA-estimated 38 miles of electric-only driving range.
U.S.-spec updates for MY2025

For the 2025 model year, front heated seats are now standard on every trim, while SEL trims gain a panoramic sunroof and a heated steering wheel. My Mitsubishi Connect, which is a standard feature, includes a 5-year Safeguard trial and 12-month Remote trial for MY2025, rounding up the changes.
Interior
The 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV continues with the standard 12.3-inch digital driver display, while higher trims feature a 9-inch center touchscreen with built-in navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto integration.
As before, the top-end SEL trim features a diamond-quilt-stitched semi-aniline leather upholstery. A Platinum Edition package, available on the SEL, introduces light gray leather elements to the interior.
Specifications

The powertrain combines the familiar 2.4-liter MIVEC gasoline engine with twin electric motors, delivering 248 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. It offers a combined range of 420 miles (electric plus gasoline) and retains its DC fast-charging capability via the CHAdeMO system, which charges the battery to 80% in approximately 38 minutes. Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system is standard across the lineup.
Price
The 2025 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid is available in four variants, with pricing starting at USD 40,445 and going up to USD 48,895. These figures are MSRP and exclude destination/handling fees, taxes, title, license, dealer charges, and optional features.
European Advantages
In Europe, Mitsubishi has equipped the 2025 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid with a larger larger 22.7 kWh lithium-ion battery, enabling up to 53 miles (86 km) of all-electric range (WLTP). This marks an increase over the 20 kWh battery in the U.S. version.
Coupled with a larger 53 liter (14 gallon) fuel tank, the new European Outlander PHEV achieves a total range of 524 miles (844 km), making it suitable for long-distance travel. The revised powertrain delivers an impressive combined output of 302 horsepower, which reflects in better acceleration and performance.

Mitsubishi says that the improved powertrain also features refined motor efficiency, seamless transitions between drive modes, and reduced cabin noise for a smoother, quieter ride.
Additional European upgrades include a 12.3-inch infotainment system with enhanced software, a new Yamaha audio system, and revised suspension for improved ride comfort. It remains to be seen if these enhancements are brought to the U.S. market model for MY2026.
