U.S.-bound Mercedes GLC Electric is an eye-catcher in Patagonia Red

We got to explore the all-new Mercedes GLC Electric (GLC 400 4MATIC) in Patagonia Red, in the Euro-spec version. The U.S. launch is officially planned for the second half of 2026. While the American variants and options are yet to be announced, here’s a general look at what buyers can expect later this year.

Exterior finishes, grille & lighting

Walking up to the GLC Electric, what immediately stands out is the new illuminated “iconic grille,” which carries 942 backlit points with optional animation. The central star and the grille outline are illuminated on higher specs.

Standard headlights are LED, with an optional Digital Light package which is more precise and brighter. The panel gaps and finish matched current Mercedes SUV standards.

Under the show lights, the display unit gleamed with its high-gloss dark finishes paired with bright chrome window surrounds and roof rails. The body surfacing supports wheels up to 21 inches. The rear uses two-piece taillamps with a star motif that can animate with the front light panel during welcome and charge sequences.

Wheels & exterior accents

Wheel designs for the GLC Electric range from aero-focused multi-spoke to AMG-style performance patterns, sized 20-21 inches. Flush door handles, the safety of which have become a topic of debate, are paired with Keyless-Go and Hands-Free Access. A black lip on the two-piece roof spoiler adds contrast on darker paints.

Interior themes & seat designs

With the new GLC Electric, Mercedes appears to be pushing a wider palette and texture set inside. Baseline upholstery uses Soft Torino leather grain. Standard colorways include Deep Black, Macchiato Beige with a matching multifunction wheel, and Beech Brown.

Optional Nappa leather in Sienna Brown sits a level up. The “Twisted Diamond” pattern is exclusive to Nappa sport seats in Tagua Brown, combining diamond perforation with contrast stitching. Both comfort and sport seats are one-piece designs with double stitching and additional bolsters on the sport seats. Memory function and front heating are standard.

Vegan Package option

An optional Vegan Package replaces soft-touch surfaces with materials certified by The Vegan Society. That cover set includes seats, headliner, pillars, door panels, and carpeting. This package is positioned as a full-cabin alternative to leather or MB-Tex.

Trims, screens & ambient lighting

Two trim levels, Exclusive and Pinnacle, are planned around the display stack. The high-end option is the 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, which bundles three displays under a single glass surface. The Superscreen is the lower option.

Ambient lighting unifies the clusters and maps color to the selected display theme. The Sky Control panoramic roof can switch transparency in nine zones and adds 162 star points that align with the 64-color ambient palette for night drives.

Trim inlays include an anthracite anodized element, metallic blended fabric in silver or silver-black, natural fibers with a white honeycomb open-pore finish, birch fineline in brown or light grey-brown, a “ship deck” black finish with aluminum inlays, and AMG carbon fiber. As shown in this example, speaker grilles on higher specs switch to stainless steel.

Specs

The GLC 400 4MATIC is the launch variant with a 94 kWh battery. Preliminary WLTP range is up to 713 km (about 443 miles). DC fast charging supports up to 330 kW with claims of up to 303 km (about 188 miles) added in 10 minutes. Towing capacity is rated up to 5,291 lbs (2,400 kg).

Wheelbase is 117 inches (2,972 mm), with more legroom and headroom than the gas-powered GLC. Rear-axle steering up to 4.5 degrees and air suspension are optional.
