Range Rover Electric customer deliveries will now commence in late 2025

The Range Rover Electric, which was confirmed during the fifth-gen SUV’s introduction on October 26, 2021, will finally reach buyers at the end of this year. The company had originally confirmed the EV’s world premiere for 2024, but the project appears a little behind schedule.

During Tata Motors’ Q3 FY2025 earnings call, Richard Molyneux, CFO, Jaguar Land Rover, confirmed that Land Rover’s first electric model arrives in late 2025, which is to be followed by a pair of other electrified launches in 2026.

So Range Rover Electric, very end of this calendar year. That will be followed by the first BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) of our EMA architecture in mid-2026. And the Jaguar that you saw the photo of, will be the very late summer, I think is what we said, in terms of 2026.

While the executive did not confirm details, the first launch on the EMA platform is expected to be the next-gen Range Rover Velar Electric, which entered road testing last year.

To be launched in November 2025?

Answering a question about the impact of depreciation levels, Molyneux appeared to confirm that the launch is planned for November 2025, during the next financial year. “So we don’t have any more moves planned at this time, so I expect D&A will be pretty much at these levels until we start to launch the BEV vehicles, which will be Range Rover BEV first in November next year,” he said.

During the company’s Q2 FY25 earnings call on November 8, 2024, Molyneux had also mentioned the Range Rover EV’s updated timeline. He said “The BEV there will come out towards the end of next year,” while replying to a question about the demand environment, and the company’s investment plan flexibility.

Testing nearing completion; 57,000 sign-ups

During the Q3 FY2025 earnings call, it was mentioned that the Range Rover Electric’s launch is “now getting closer and closer,” with the company also stating in its investor presentation that testing is nearing completion. In the press release issued to detail the consolidated Q3 FY2025 results, parent company Tata Motors revealed that the “Range Rover Electric development continues with the waiting list now at 57,000.”

Range Rover first, electric second

The Range Rover Electric will compete with the Cadillac Escalade IQ, Lucid Gravity, and Mercedes EQS SUV. The company aims to preserve the brand’s signature design and driving experience while integrating an all-electric powertrain. JLR emphasizes a “Range Rover first, electric second” approach, ensuring minimal design changes between ICE, hybrid, and EV variants.

Quietest & most refined Range Rover ever

Inside, refinement remains a priority, with the near-silent BEV powertrain enhancing occupant comfort. Testing across extreme climates, from -40°F in the Arctic to 122°F in the Middle East, confirms its all-weather durability. The dual-motor AWD system, featuring Intelligent Torque Management, improves traction and off-road capability, with JLR claiming best-in-class thermal performance on sand.

Expected to surpass the Range Rover SV’s 606 hp output, the EV could achieve 0-60 mph in 3.5-4.0 seconds, with a top speed near 160 mph.
