9 New features that we spot in the 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid

The 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid, which will reach U.S. dealers in the coming weeks, isn’t a complete facelift. Honda has focused on upgrading the cabin experience and adding a rugged TrailSport Hybrid trim that brings new confidence for off-road driving, and to compete with the RAV4 Hybrid Woodland.

Here are the nine new features that we spotted for the 2026 model year of Honda’s best-selling vehicle in the U.S. It comes in time to tackle the next-gen 2026 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, which will be revealed on May 20:

1. CR-V TrailSport Hybrid

The 2026 CR-V TrailSport Hybrid introduces rugged design cues with Honda’s two-motor hybrid system. Mechanically, it comes standard with all-wheel drive, and trail-ready Continental CrossContact ATR all-terrain tires. Exterior changes include a silver skid garnish, piano black rear spoiler, black exterior trim, and TrailSport badges on the grille and tailgate.

2. Standard 9-inch Touchscreen

All 2026 CR-V trims now feature a 9-inch HD color touchscreen. The 7-inch system, which was available in the basic Sport Hybrid trim, has been discontinued. During our time with the previous model year, we found this display to be easier to use and better integrated into the dashboard. It also improves navigation and media controls, making it more ergonomic.

3. Standard Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across variants for MY26. The CR-V also includes a wireless phone charger on all trims, further removing the need for cables. The basic Sport Hybrid trim in earlier model years did not have either of these features.

4. Fully Digital Instrument Cluster

Except for the Sport Hybrid, all trims now come with a 10.2-inch fully digital instrument panel. Found on the EX-L, Sport-L, TrailSport, and Sport Touring Hybrid, it’s 46% larger than before. Drivers can access a range of data, from safety settings to real-time vehicle info, in a customizable layout. This feature has been carried forward from the CR-V fuel cell vehicle which was announced last year.

5. Better Traction Management

The CR-V’s AWD system gains improved low-speed traction control. Below 9 mph, when it detects a wheel on each axle slipping, it boosts braking to those wheels and increases torque to the tires with grip. This makes it slightly more capable in mud, snow, and uneven terrain. The upgrade applies across all AWD variants, not just the TrailSport.

6. Ash Green Metallic

A new exterior color, Ash Green Metallic, is exclusive to the TrailSport Hybrid. It joins the CR-V lineup after debuting on the Passport TrailSport. The rugged, outdoorsy appearance is aimed squarely at the RAV4 Woodland Edition.

7. “Individual” Drive Mode

A new “Individual” drive mode debuts on the Sport Touring Hybrid. It allows the driver to adjust throttle response and steering feel independently. It offers a more tailored driving feel without needing to switch between preset drive modes.

8. Google Built-in

First introduced in the CR-V fuel cell model last year, Google built-in comes standard on the Sport Touring Hybrid. This includes Google Assistant, Maps, and access to apps via Google Play. The vehicle comes with a 3-year unlimited data plan.

9. TrailSport Interior Upgrades

Inside the TrailSport Hybrid, unique features include embroidered TrailSport logos on the headrests, amber ambient lighting in key cabin areas, and all-season floor mats. These changes give the TrailSport a distinct identity within the CR-V range.
