2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid likely the last model before 2026 facelift

The sixth-generation Honda CR-V was launched in the U.S. in July 2022, and in customary Honda fashion, it won’t take long before it receives a cosmetic refresh.

In fact, American Honda isn’t keeping us guessing, revealing during its outlook on the 2025 automobile business in January that the “CR-V will see changes in 2025, including the addition of a new TrailSport trim.” While Honda refrains from using “refresh” or “facelift” in the release document, it’s clear that minor cosmetic changes are in order for the hybrid compact SUV during its fourth model year.

MY2025 gets no changes

Trims

Before we talk about the facelift, let’s round up the 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid, which is a carry-over model. It continues to be offered in 3 variants: Sport Hybrid, Sport-L Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid, mirroring the MY2024 lineup (the Sport-L debuted for MY24). The 2025 Sport Touring Hybrid, featured in this article, is the fully-loaded model with electronic all-wheel drive.

Features

The 2025 CR-V Sport Touring Hybrid gets unique features like heated steering wheel, ambient lighting in the door and footwell area, rain-sensing wipers, hands-free power tailgate, 19-inch wheels, Bose 12-speaker audio system, and Wi-Fi hotspot.

The lower trims are also decently equipped, with features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, power sunroof, cruise control, dual-zone air-conditioning, heated front seats, 7-inch digital gauge cluster, and USB Type-C charging ports. I’ll have to mention that the center console bin is spacious, and I could easily fit my iPad inside with room to spare.

Specifications

All 2025 CR-V Hybrid models are powered by the same 2-liter engine that develops 145 hp @ 6,100 rpm, and 138 lb-ft @ 4,500 rpm, linked to an electric motor that develops 181 hp @ 5,000-8,000 rpm, and 247 lb-ft of torque. Combined, the system generates 204 hp.

Sitting in the back, I liked the ample knee room, eight-step recline function, and the thoughtful roof cut-out that improved headroom in the sixth-gen CR-V.

The 2WD hybrid model returns an impressive 40 mpg (EPA combined), while the AWD Hybrid returns 37 mpg (EPA combined). All three trims offer 1,000 pounds of towing capacity, while the Sport Touring gets a slightly lower 34.7 cu.ft of cargo space behind the second row, compared to 36.3 cu.ft of the 2WD versions.

Pricing

The 2025 CR-V Hybrid is priced at USD 34,650 for the Sport Hybrid, at USD 37,650 for the Sport-L Hybrid, and USD 41,100 for the Sport Touring Hybrid (MSRP excluding tax, license, registration, and destination fee). Customers in the U.S. don’t seem to mind spending the premium, as 55% of CR-V sales in Q1 2025 were from the Hybrid version.

On the MY2026

We expect the 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid to adopt a sportier split-style grille, similar to the CR-V FCEV. The split-style front grille and reshaped bumper should give it a sharper, sportier look. At the rear, updated semi-clear-lens taillights and a new tailgate applique should modernize its appearance.

The 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid (rendered) will likely arrive at U.S. dealers in the second half of the year with revisions to its front and rear, and displays.

Inside, higher trims like the Sport Touring could upgrade to the 10.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, with better clarity and customization. The 9-inch infotainment system is likely to be upgraded with Google built-in and Alexa integration.
