In October 2023, GM moved the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST release date in the U.S. from Fall 2023 to H1 2024. While the company no longer plans to ship the lifestyle version of the truck to dealers this holiday season, it is showcasing the model at events to keep prospective customers interested. Currently, the company is displaying a black unit of the electric truck at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show, as seen in our exclusive pictures.
The Chevrolet Silverado EV RST looks quite stunning in black color. Its low-profile front-end, featuring ultra-thin daytime running lights and a covered upper grille, combined with slick 24-inch aero wheels, gives it a stealth-like look in this color. In my opinion, black is the most fitting color for this performance-focused electric pickup truck.
The Chevrolet Silverado EV RST continues its sporty theme inside with features like Jet Black upholstery with red stitching, red and gloss black accents, and RST branding. A fixed-glass roof, modular console with more than 7 gallons of storage space, 11-inch driver information display, 17-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and multi-color HUD are also among the interior highlights.
Powering the Chevrolet Silverado EV RST are two motors, one at the front and one at the back, which produce up to 754 hp and more than 785 lb.-ft. of torque temporarily, when the driver engages a boost mode. A 0-60 mph sprint when the boost mode is engaged takes just 4.5 seconds. GM is yet to release details regarding charging and range. I expect a ~200 kWh battery pack to deliver a range of between 350 and 400 miles, and the peak charging input to be 350 kW.
An adaptive air suspension allows the driver to lower or raise the truck by up to 2 inches, which I foresee can help on rough terrain, and while loading the bed. A rear-wheel steering system turns the rear wheels in the opposite direction as the front wheels at low speeds to make the truck more easily maneuverable and in the same direction at high speeds to improve its handling and give it more stability.
The Chevrolet Silverado EV RST has a 5-foot-11-inch bed and will be available with Multi-Flex Midgate and Multi-Flex Tailgate to increase the storage length to over 9 feet and up to 10 feet 10 inches, respectively. A lockable, weatherproof frunk called ‘eTrunk’ offers 10,7 cu. ft. of additional storage space. An optional V2L charging function will allow customers to offload up to 10.2 kW of power to power home appliances, work tools, and more equipment.
