The 2027 Chevrolet Bolt RS is the sporty version of the new Bolt for the U.S. and Canadian markets, featuring a 65 kWh battery, a GM-estimated range of 255 miles, 150 kW DC fast charging, and a standard NACS port.
We recently had the opportunity to check out the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt RS in person in the Habanero Orange color, and here’s what we found.
Design

The 2027 Chevrolet Bolt RS gets subtle styling changes to help it stand out. At the front, the RS features a ‘wavy’ honeycomb mesh design finished in gloss black with the RS grille badge. Moving to the side, the RS includes high-gloss black roof rails and 17-inch wheels in a unique glossy black finish.
From the rear, changes are harder to spot, with only the red-accented RS badge being a noticeable difference. The 2027 Bolt features seven paint options including an exclusive Atomic Yellow on the RS. Overall, this variant looks a lot sportier and more fun than the LT.
Interior

The RS trim features red stitching, helping it stand out from the base variant. The cabin features front seats wrapped in synthetic leather (Evotex) with red stitching, and ambient lighting is standard. The RS variant also gets a Technology Package option which adds surround vision and two wireless phone chargers.
Otherwise, the cabin incorporates the same 11.3-inch infotainment screen with Google built-in and 11-inch driver information screen with configurable layouts. The redesigned console adds open storage areas, helped by the new column-mounted shifter.
Available features include a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel and multiple USB Type-C ports. Cargo volume is 16.2 cubic feet behind the second row and 56.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.
Specifications

Being a purely cosmetic trim, the Bolt RS uses the same 65 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. GM estimates a driving range of 255 miles on a full charge. Warranty coverage for the battery is 8 years or 100,000 miles.
A permanent magnet motor, mounted at the front, produces 210 hp and 169 lb-ft of torque. Four-wheel disc brakes with partially regenerative control support blended braking. AC charging capability reaches 11.5 kW, while DC fast charging is rated at 150 kW. GM estimates a 10-80 percent fast charge time of 26 minutes under ideal conditions.
Estimated home charging rates include approximately 26 miles of range per hour on a 240 V 7.7 kW source and approximately 40 miles of range per hour on a 240 V 11.5 kW charger. A native NACS port is standard, making it compatible with Tesla charging stations without needing an external adapter.
Price & Release Date

In the U.S., the 2027 Chevy Bolt RS is priced at USD 32,995 (MSRP) before taxes and other fees, making it USD 4,000 more expensive than the LT model. The 2027 Bolt family will be produced in a limited run at GM’s Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas, and is scheduled to reach U.S. and Canadian Chevy dealerships in the first quarter of 2026.
