Next-gen Audi Q3 debut confirmed for Summer 2025 amidst PHEV rush

Audi has officially confirmed the debut of the next-generation Audi Q3 for summer 2025, teasing the vehicle at the Audi Annual Media Conference on March 18, 2025.

2025 will be marked by the renewal of the two important model series: A6 and Q3. At the beginning of the month we presented the A6 Avant, and further derivatives of this very important model line will follow in summer of this year, the Q3 model family will be renewed, and the Audi A3 Sportback and Audi A3 AllStreet as plug-in hybrids will also be launched and they will start the renewal of our model range of plug-in hybrids.

As seen in our exclusive renderings, the third-generation Q3 will get a bold redesign. The fascia takes cues from the new Q5 and Q6 e-tron, featuring split headlights, slim wedge-shaped daytime lights, and pixel LED high and low beams.

A wider grille with a honeycomb design and larger air intakes provides a sporty look. The steeper roofline improves aerodynamics. At the rear, a sleek spoiler and connected light clusters resemble the Q8 e-tron. Recent spy photos confirm the design is nearly finished.

The new Audi Q3 (rendered) will adopt the VW Group’s new electrified powertrains.

Inside, the cabin is expected to offer more space from the longer wheelbase and wider body. Features should include an 11.9-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit and a 14.5-inch touchscreen running Android Automotive OS. Ambient lighting and a Bang & Olufsen 3D audio system are expected to be optional.

The Q3 will continue on the MQB evo platform, offering mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines. The mild-hybrid is expected to pair a 1.5-liter turbo engine (150 kW, 250 Nm) with a 48-volt system for added fuel efficiency (15 kW, 25 Nm).

The plug-in hybrid could deliver 200 kW (268 hp) and 400 Nm (295 lb.ft) using VW Group’s latest system that we experienced in the EU-spec new Tiguan PHEV. A 19.7 kWh battery should offer up to 62 miles (WLTP) of electric range. Döllner emphasized, “By the end of the year, we will have launched a total of 10 new PHEV models. For us, these models are a central part of our portfolio as we move towards an all-electric range.”

We got to check out the Tiguan Plug-in Hybrid late last year in Europe, and its 1.5-liter TSI evo2-based system will be shared with the new Q3 PHEV.

The Audi Q3 mainly targets the BMW X1 and Volvo XC40, with the former improving its market position in the U.S., clocking 30% YoY sales growth in 2024. The all-new Q3 is expected to arrive stateside for the 2026 model year later this year, priced from around $40,000.
