At Auto Zurich 2025, we got to experience the features, comfort, design, and the space levels of the upcoming 2026 Subaru Uncharted, the company’s first all-electric crossover for the subcompact segment.
What in essence is a restyled Toyota C-HR Electric is set to go on sale in the U.S. in early 2026, and will be available in Premium FWD, Sport, and GT trims.
Design

The 2026 Subaru Uncharted is shorter than the Solterra by nearly 7 inches but offers over 25 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row. The exterior carries Subaru’s new lighting signature, including a six-star illuminated logo and weather-resistant headlamps.
Sport and GT trims ride on 20-inch wheels, while the Premium gets 18-inch designs. A high-contrast two-tone roof is available on GT. The rear design integrates LED combination lamps, black badging, and a silver lower fascia for variety. Low-profile roof rails are standard on AWD models.
Interior & Features

The cabin features a horizontal dashboard layout and soft-touch materials accented by orange highlights. A 14-inch touchscreen handles infotainment functions, offering wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All trims include dual wireless smartphone chargers and USB-C ports for front and rear passengers.
The GT trim adds ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a Harman Kardon premium audio system, panoramic sunroof, and a digital rearview mirror. An All-Weather Package is standard across the range, including heated seats, mirrors, and a windshield wiper de-icer. All trims include Subaru’s latest EyeSight driver-assist suite
Experience in the Subaru Uncharted

Ingress in the Subaru Uncharted is easy, helped by the slightly raised floor and solid-feeling doors. Once seated, the cabin feels like an evolution of the Solterra. The driving position is comfortable, though the digital instrument cluster sits deep in the dash and is partially blocked by the flat-bottom steering wheel. This makes it harder to view information directly ahead.
The seats are electrically adjustable and provide strong back and shoulder support, with enough under-thigh comfort for daily driving. Headroom is tight for my six-foot frame, but it’s manageable. The center console feels substantial, offering two wireless chargers, a rotary drive selector, and physical dials for volume and climate control, which I prefer over touchscreen-only setups. The overall layout is practical and easy to get used to.
Moving to the rear, entry is straightforward, but taller passengers will notice limited space. With the front seat adjusted for my height, knee room is just enough, and I sit with my knees slightly raised due to the battery under the floor.
The backrest feels supportive. Rear passengers get AC vents, two USB-C ports, and a fold-down armrest with cupholders and a phone slot. However, the middle seat is tight, with a small floor hump and the AC box extending into the footwell, making it impractical for a third adult.
Specifications

The Uncharted’s 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery powers either a single-motor FWD setup or dual-motor AWD system. The Premium FWD model produces 221 hp and offers more than 300 miles of range.
The Sport and GT trims use dual motors for a combined 338 hp and approximately 290 miles of range. Both AWD variants include Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and X-MODE for improved traction.
Charging
The Subaru Uncharted supports DC fast charging up to 150 kW through a standard NACS port, enabling a 10-80% charge in around 30 minutes, helped by the integrated battery preconditioning system. An 11-kW onboard charger supports Level 1 and Level 2 home charging. Subaru includes features such as regenerative braking and charge scheduling to help efficiency and range.
Price & Release Date
