The MG GO! Concept, celebrating its world debut at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, previews a future B-segment battery-electric hatchback due in 2027.
We had a chance to get up close with the MG GO! at its premiere, and the first thing that stands out is how different it feels from MG’s current small-car design language in MG4 Urban and MG3.
MG says the GO! is not a nostalgic show car but a model designed to bring more aspiration and personality to the electric hatchback space.


The bright orange paintwork gives the GO! instant presence, and Carl Gotham, Design Director of Advanced Design at MG’s London studio, exclusively revealed to us the color is a tribute to an older MGB shade. MG wanted the concept to stand out on a hot summer day with this special paint.
The MGB GT influence is not difficult to understand. MG says the GO! takes inspiration from some of its most youthful and expressive mid-20th century models, especially the MGB GT, but the execution is not overtly retro.

The MG GO! has a clean, low and planted stance, with tight overhangs and wheels pushed out toward the corners.
In person, the concept looks sporty without being aggressive. The roofline slopes gently toward the rear, and that gives it a more car-like appearance than many small EV concepts that try too hard to look like miniature SUVs.
The side profile is simple, but there is enough surfacing and tension around the wheel arches to keep it interesting.


There are clear concept-car elements, though. The lower front section, the slim mirrors, the exaggerated wheels and some of the rear detailing will almost certainly be toned down.
Gotham confirmed to us that the production model will use smaller wheels and tires, which makes sense from a practicality standpoint.
More importantly, he also confirmed that the concept is based on the production car, and that the production model is already finished. This is not one of those distant design exercises where the final car may end up looking unrelated.


Gotham told us the vertical headlight signatures will be seen on the production model. The pixel-style lighting elements, seen even in the taillights, are MG’s way of interpreting the role of AI and digital technology in everyday life.
MG is aiming for a 3-door-look with pillar-mounted rear handles, which would also lend the electric hatchback a sportier styling. Gotham told us that the final car will feature the MG graphic on the rear door handles.
At the rear, the upper section appears closer to production than the large diffuser-style bumper and sporty spoiler treatment, reminiscent of the Cyberster.


MG says the GO! was designed entirely by its Design Centre in London, under Gotham’s leadership.
If the 2027 production hatchback keeps the stance, lighting identity, playful color choices and the concept’s visual confidence, MG could have a winner on its hands!
