We spent time studying the Lexus Sport Concept (later renamed the Lexus LFA Concept) and the Lexus LFA Electric prototype at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, and at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, respectively. Here’s everything we know and expect from the next-gen LFA.
Design

According to a report Autocar published on July 10, 2026, Shogo Kasamatsu, who designed the concept, has said that the design of the production version is “almost finished” and it looks “almost” similar. Kasamatsu hinted at an approach similar to the LFA, which he described as “very artistic.”
With its low and wide stance, long hood, rear-set cabin, and short rear deck, the successor to the Lexus LFA will have the unmistakable presence of a high-performance grand tourer.
We spotted beautifully sculpted surfaces, a hood-integrated Lexus logo, minimalist hood vents, and a smoothly sloping roofline, which communicated a sense of high performance without exaggeration or gimmicks.

A little lower and closer to the ground, the car exudes a performance focus all around, without flashiness. Obsession with aerodynamics is visible throughout, including the deep A-shaped air-intake grille, prominent front splitter, side air intakes, side skirts, large diffuser, and adjustable rear wing.

Intricate detailing is evident at all angles, and we particularly liked the distinctive design of the third brake light, which is a nod to the LFA’s triple exhaust outlet.
Interior

While Lexus has not said anything about the interior, we got a close look at the cabin of the LFA prototype at Goodwood. Maintaining a performance-oriented theme, it feels like a snug cabin with space for two occupants, along with a low seat position, a traditional steering wheel, and simple displays for the gauges and infotainment.
Considering that it’s only a prototype, we expect the final product to get a two-tone scheme, with the driver’s side finished in the lighter shade, a reversal of the usual dark-toned driver zone seen in most sports cars. A marbled-pattern trim in a combination of black and gray could frame the driver tub, reminiscent of a grand tourer.

Specifications
Technical details about the next-gen Lexus LFA remain undisclosed. Its production version is expected to share the all-aluminum monocoque chassis with the GR GT. However, while Gazoo Racing’s offering is a hybrid model, the Lexus model is likely to be an EV.
The Autocar report indicates the production version will be the brand’s first model featuring solid-state batteries with significantly higher energy density than conventional lithium-ion batteries.

Rather than focus on headline-generating power and torque figures, Lexus could prioritize sustained performance and the driving experience.
This next-generation LFA is a car that provides an immersive experience like no other, imitating nothing else. This sense of immersion was born from the pursuit of a high-level fusion of aerodynamic performance and sculptural beauty.
Lexus LFA Electric Project General Manager Yukihiro Yukita on July 15, 2026

Lexus wants to replicate the excitement of driving a gas-powered car, but not by simply mimicking the sound of an engine. “We want to redesign the sound itself,” said Yukihiro Yukita, the general manager of the LFA program, hinting the company is working on an innovative solution.
Release Date
Having witnessed the prototype’s progress at Goodwood, we would not be surprised if the production model premieres next year, with U.S. order books opening shortly afterward.
We also wouldn’t be surprised if Lexus prices the LFA successor starting north of USD 300,000, much like the original.
