The Ford Ranger Plug-in Hybrid debuted in late 2024 and has already received its first facelift. The update brings it in line with the lifecycle of the ICE Ranger, which was introduced in late 2021.
We had a chance to get a close look at the new Ranger PHEV at a recent media event, and here are the key changes we noticed:
Design

The 2026 Ford Ranger Plug-in Hybrid carries over the familiar rugged character and incorporates only subtle design changes. Depending on the market, the outgoing model is available in XLT, Wildtrak, MS-RT, and Stormtrak grades. The new model will be available in Platinum and Limited trims as well.
The Platinum trim will be available in a new Acacia Green pearlescent metallic paint and feature an Ebony Gloss Black H-shaped front fascia element, a gloss black mesh grille with Dark Chrome center bar and Silk Chrome foil accents, and new 18-inch machine-faced alloy wheels.

Ebony Gloss Black “Platinum” inscription on the hood and matching badges on the body, front doors, and tailgate set it apart and clearly identify the trim.
The Wildtrak grade also features a new radiator grille, along with new six-spoke alloy wheels in a more aerodynamic design. Ford has yet to reveal the details of the Limited and other grades of the new Ranger PHEV.
Interior

Inside, Ford says the new Ranger brings updates like Gloss Black and Magnetite painted decorative elements on the steering wheel, door panels, dashboard, central touchscreen surrounds, and AC vents. The company has carried over the overall design and layout from the outgoing model.
In the Wildtrak grade, Ford has introduced new Ignite Orange stitching and integrated the seat emblems into the upholstery for improved durability.

Also new in the refreshed Ranger Plug-in Hybrid is BlueCruise, which allows hands-free driving on compatible highways across 16 European markets. Ford will offer it as standard in the Platinum grade and as an option in the Limited and Wildtrak trims.

Experience in the new Ford Ranger Plug-in Hybrid
The Ford Ranger plug-in hybrid feels easy to climb into. A grab handle and side step reduce the effort required. The driving position offers a clear view, and a six-foot driver fits with headroom to spare. The front seats offer power adjustment and firm support, with a large center armrest.

The center display sits flush in the dash and dominates the layout, but the cabin offers physical knobs for volume and climate, plus hard keys for functions. A conventional shift knob sits beside a drive-mode dial and a separate EV-mode selector. Materials feel truck-grade and utilitarian.
In the rear, knee room is right with the front seat set for a taller driver, and knees can brush the seatback. The backrest stays fixed against the rear firewall. Big side windows and the rear glass keep the area bright. Rear passengers get features like two air vents, USB power, and a 230-volt outlet.

Specifications
The 2026 Ford Ranger Plug-in Hybrid uses the same powertrain as the outgoing model. It has a 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbocharged gas engine under the hood, assisted by a 75 kW (101 horsepower) electric motor positioned between the engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission.
This combination produces 207 kW (278 horsepower) and 697 Nm (514 lb.-ft.) of torque and gives the plug-in hybrid pickup truck a towing capacity of 3,500 kg (7,716 lbs.) and a payload capacity of up to 1,000 kg (2,205 lbs.).

An 11.8 kWh (net), 96-cell NMC battery pack powers the electric motor. In Germany, according to WLTP, it gives the new Ranger Plug-in Hybrid a pure electric range of 43 kilometers (27 miles).
Pro Power Onboard will be available as an option, allowing customers to use the traction battery pack as a portable power source with up to 9.6 kW of power.
Price & Release Date
