First Look Review: 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E registers changes across the board

Late last year, Ford announced updates for its electric SUV, the Mustang Mach-E, for the 2025 model year with improved tech, design tweaks, and winter-focused upgrades. Now in its fifth year, the Mach-E continues without a full redesign but introduces useful changes that improve user experience.

After experiencing the 2024 Mach-E GT Bronze Package and Mach-E Rally last year, we recently spent time with the 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E Premium AWD in Grabber Yellow. Here are the key changes we observed.

Exterior

Sport Appearance Package

Visually, the 2025 Mustang Mach-E retains its familiar sporty silhouette, but there are notable styling additions. A new Sport Appearance Package is available on the Premium trim. This optional package brings elements from the GT grade, such as a redesigned front fascia, black-painted door cladding and wheel lips, and 19-inch monochromatic gloss black wheels. Red Brembo brake calipers at the front complete the sportier look. Inside, it adds red accent stitching throughout the cabin and sport pedals.

New Colors & Wheels

Ford has also revised the color options. New shades, Desert Sand, Molten Magenta Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, and Velocity Blue Metallic, replace outgoing colors including Grabber Blue and Rapid Red. The brand has introduced new wheel designs as well. Select models get new 19-inch gloss black wheels, while the GT and Rally variants receive their own distinctive black-finished sets. The Rally trim also features unique white graphics on its wheels.

Cabin

Monostable Stalk & Ventilated Seats

Inside, Ford has moved the gear shifter from the center console to the steering column, adopting a monostable stalk. This change frees up additional space between the seats, now used for new cubby holes to store small items. Premium and higher trims also benefit from ventilated front seats, addressing customer demand for better summer comfort.

BlueCruise 1.5

Tech upgrades arrive in the form of BlueCruise 1.5 which replaces version 1.4. The improved system adds Automatic Lane Change, allowing the car to change lanes automatically if a slower vehicle is ahead or if a faster car is approaching from behind. Ford says it can now handle up to 45% of driver-initiated lane changes.

Ford Connectivity Package

Another big upgrade is the Ford Connectivity Package, now available for the first time. This adds a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 10 devices, YouTube video playback, karaoke functionality, and advanced navigation tools including EV Trip Planner and Predictive Destinations. These entertainment features work only when the vehicle is stationary.

Electrical & Mechanical

To improve winter efficiency, all 2025 Mach-E models now include a vapor-injected heat pump, which captures waste heat from various components to reduce energy demand on the battery. A front recovery hook has been added to aid towing, and Ford now includes an NACS fast-charging adapter with the mobile power cord, improving public charging compatibility. Due to the addition of the heat pump, the frunk is now smaller.

Range & Outputs

Compared to MY2024, the Mach-E for the new model year develops +5 hp (370 hp) for the extended-range battery & AWD, and loses 18 hp (272 hp) in the extended-range battery & RWD of the Premium and Select variants.

Similarly, the Mach-E Premium and Select with standard-range battery & AWD get 240 miles (+10 miles), and get 260 miles (+10 miles) with standard-range battery & RWD, according to EPA estimation.

Pricing

While it has dropped the windshield wiper de-icer, MyKey, and certain wheel options, Ford has trimmed prices between $4,000-$7,400 across the range, making the 2025 Mustang Mach-E more competitive. It is priced (MSRP, does not include DPH fee) starting at $36,495 for the Select trim, $39,995 for the Premium, $52,495 for the GT, and $55,995 for the Rally.
